Welcome Address by the Governor of Saint Petersburg Alexander Beglov

Dear Friends!

I am glad to welcome participants and visitors of the XIX Annual Strategic Planning Leaders Forum of the Regions and Cities of Russia!

For almost two decades already, the Strategic Planning Leaders Forum has been bringing together leading experts, government officials, businesspersons and scholars. This year it is devoted to the issues of mobilizing resources of cities and regions amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Despite all the difficulties, the key priorities for St. Petersburg, identified in the Socio-Economic Development Strategy 2035, remain unchanged: improving citizens’ quality of life, creating comfortable urban environment, ensuring sustainable economic growth, and introducing innovative technologies.

We are addressing one of the key challenges successfully — we are correcting the mismatch between residential housing and infrastructure facilities. We are building kindergartens, schools and clinics. We are creating new public spaces. St. Petersburg is currently among the leaders when it comes to Russia’s National Projects implementation.

My very best wishes for fruitful dialogue and pleasant experience during staying in St. Petersburg!
